SEPTEMBER BORN

One of the most precious gifts I received last year was lost, incidentally, when I deleted Sirius.  Thank God it still lives through a very dear friend.  She holds every copyright of course, but today I take the liberty to own it once more.

SEPTEMBER MOURN

There was the inexplicable bouts of body aches one day, and of feeling totally ill on another.

There was the sudden bursts of temper, which was not entirely groundless  (Like when I told a baby resident to shut the fuck up - in a nicest way possible, of course - because I found it funny , even my co-worker did, that he had to ask if the patient who was obviously septic with a temp of 38.7 was given anything, like tylenol.  "Why did you laugh?  And you always have that smirk on your face." I blew my head off.  That rigor mortis-fied him at eight in the morning.)

There was the binges on coke, which I had avoided religiously for the past 2 years.  Except of course when I got the urge, which was very seldom, and treated myself to a meager 8 ounces and always made sure that someone else got the bigger portion of the calories.  But things have been bad lately; I've been drinking the whole bottle. 

And oh, yesterday I cried while watching a movie on cable.  Maybe because it was terrible.  Or I felt terrible.  And it was a comedy.

Then, today I almost burned my place down. 

Now here I am mulling the events of the past weeks,  and today's,  my fingers coursing through my hair or what was left of it, making a mad dash to the bathroom every once in a while to look in the mirror. I don't know why I made a last-minute decision to go for the mohawk.  Because this is  more like a mo-aack!  I look like Bert.  Except he's yellow.  Hmmm!  Should I get a yellow convertible?

Midlife crisis is not a good thing. 

MENOPAUSED

Will I still get granny-tified stares when I hit 25?

T-8 days and counting.

ZENFUL

There you are in the confines of your home trying to put sense in and make sense of all this.  How ever you try, no amount of rationalization is enough in your deliberate attempt for self-preservation.  Your well-being suffers from a nick, but the pain is worth a limb.

So you resort to something the can provide comfort.  Beyond the bloatedness however, food can only satiate and full-fill so much.  A few hours and it becomes nothing but a hard turd or worse a run of diarrhea;  different in consistency but the same stinky shit.

Then you realize something.  It has worked a lot of times before.  Maybe it will again tonight.

With calculated movements, eyes intermittently eyeing the clock on the wall, you make a mad dash for the shower.  A quick change and you're out the door. 

Thirty minutes and you are back in your bedroom.  It isn't the usual hot concoction you've become accustomed to drinking, but what the hell.  And on top of that, literally, the stupid girl at the counter totally ignored your request to skip the whipped and dumped a swirly glob. 

It's fattening.  Fuck fat.   

ZENSLESS

It isn't exactly the best way to cap another taxing day at work.  Of course, it is nothing but a shit of paper, but there couldn't be a more concrete proof of a well laid out plan gone kaput. 

After the initial shock and shame, comes the realization that a person's destiny isn't drawn by some invisible being with supernatural powers nor by some deity (carved out of driftwood or stone) that had achieved an imaginary perfect state in an imaginary perfect place. 

Really there is no one else to blame but your own self.
